I used a building technique similar to what I used for my bed frame and am in the process of getting the stain close to that of the bed (I am still using the same batch of stain I used on the bed, just need to add another coat or two to the ramp).

Francis gets a Ramp
When you have a short dog that likes your bed, what do you do? Leg extensions? Make him sleep on the floor? Not with a face like his! You build him a ramp (that includes a nightstand for your things)!

A Craft-tastic Saturday!
When you have a class to prep for Monday, contract work to complete, and 5 looming application deadlines what better to do with your free Saturday then make stuff (and watch copious amounts of internet TV; Game of Thrones, Season 1, check!)!
My niece will be playing with this purse for Valentine's Day & my French press will keep coffee and tea warm longer.

Adventures with My Walking Foot
Most of the fabric was scrap Amy Butler that I bought from a boutique in Madison, WI called Zip Dang. From there I worked in other fabrics I purchased at Stitcher's Crossing in Madison with guidance of their color savvy staff. The project was a good exercise for me as most of my quilting adventures have been simple block quilts that were finished off with yarn ties.
I wanted the challenge of making something more modern than traditional. I call this a challenge because for every AMAZING & EXCITING modern quilt there are at least 5 less fortunate, poorly crafted, and poorly designed modern quilts and I really love more traditional quilts such as a good log cabin or star block or pin wheel pattern. Even though playtime wrinkled the quilt for the pictures below, these uneven fabric pieces are sewn up with precision and will be around for many naps to come.
BED!
My recent move left me in need of a bed. I found some fairly simple plans online that I really liked using inexpensive materials. The plans came from the blog Dear Emmeline. I modified the headboard so it is shorter than the original and so it rests at an angle, an idea I took from an Ikea bed frame I was considering at the time. There are still some touch ups to be done with the stain, but who has time for that!?

Tree Sweater 2012
Finally, the 2012 Tree Sweater is on the tree after a few delays. So with a sigh of relief and feelings of goodness restored, here it is...
I will miss last year's hoodie with pom-poms (my favorite so far), but am glad to uphold this annual tradition with a polka-dot and stripe number.

Guitar Strap
My nephew was given an acoustic guitar for Christmas this year, so he called on his Aunt "An-rah!" to make him a guitar strap. I bought the fabric from Harts Fabric in Santa Cruz, CA.

What does an aunt get in return? A sing-a-long!
